GOTS Approved Paints and Chemicals (SCOPE 4)
Certify your textile auxiliary chemicals and dyestuff production at world standards. Register your chemical production processes in accordance with environmentally friendly and social responsibility principles with GOTS Scope 4 certification.

What is GOTS SCOPE 4?
GOTS Scope 4 refers to the certification of chemical inputs (textile auxiliaries, dyes and pigments). This means that chemical manufacturers/formulators/sellers must have their chemical inputs certified by a GOTS accredited certification body.
In the GOTS system, it is mandatory to use inputs that have been assessed and approved by an accredited certification body under GOTS Scope 4.
Environmental Protection
It promotes environmentally friendly production processes through water saving, energy efficiency and waste management.
Health and Safety
Not using chemicals harmful to human health protects the health of both employees and end consumers.
Quality Assurance
Increases reliability by providing double quality assurance through on-site inspection and chemical analysis.
GOTS Approved Paints and Chemicals
GOTS approved dyes and chemicals are environmentally friendly and harmless to human health substances used in textile production. These chemicals are produced and used in accordance with environmental and toxicological criteria. The substances included in the scope of GOTS chemicals are as follows:

GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD
Scope of GOTS Scope 4
GOTS Scope 4 verifies that textile auxiliary chemicals and dyestuffs used in organic textile production comply with GOTS requirements in formulation, production and supply processes. It covers facilities directly related to the production and supply of chemicals in the supply chain, based on content integrity, traceability and documentation of chemical products.
GOTS Scope 4 Terms
GOTS Scope 4 certification is based on compliance with GOTS chemical requirements in the formulation, production, storage and trade processes of textile auxiliary chemicals and dyestuffs used in organic textile production.
Within the scope of content integrity and traceability of chemical products, compliance with GOTS criteria is audited.
Situation Assessment
GOTS Scope 4 status assessment is the process of analyzing the current status of a chemical manufacturer (formulator) or trading company in preparation for the GOTS approval process and examining its compliance with GOTS chemical criteria.
This assessment determines in which areas the company is compliant and in which areas it needs to improve in order to receive a GOTS Scope 4 letter of approval (LoA).
As a result of the assessment, the company’s chemical production processes, environmental management, supply chain practices and documentation infrastructure are reviewed. Thus, the corrections that need to be made during the application process are clearly identified.
– Current Practices and Processes
The company’s production flow, quality control procedures, environmental management and occupational health and safety practices regarding the production of textile auxiliary chemicals and dyestuffs are examined in detail. The level of compliance with GOTS Scope 4 chemical criteria is evaluated and the readiness for the certification process is determined.
– Chemical Use and Management
Compliance of the raw materials used with the GOTS banned substance list, adequacy of safety data sheets (SDS) and chemical storage conditions are evaluated
– Environmental and Social Impacts
Waste water treatment, energy use, employee health and safety and sustainable production practices are reviewed.
– Supply Chain Traceability
The compliance of the raw materials supplied with GOTS criteria and the traceability system are analyzed.
– Improvement Plan
According to the results of the assessment, the necessary improvement steps and action plan are determined for the company to obtain GOTS Scope 4 approval.
